Default Head cleaning....

Just purchase a 95 coupe 5 speed lx this past weekend and notice that the car runs pretty shitty. Pull the valve cover and noticed all spark plug seals are bad, which cause the oil to be all over the spark plugs. The worst part is that the valve spring and everything else you can see from the top is almost pitch black....any thing I can use to spray it down to clean it up? And yes, I'll change the oil after that....

My older accord had a similar problem.
I poured some "engine flush", run the car for a few minutes. Flushed, and did the same thing a second time. You probably want to wait until the engine cools down a little, so you don't get burnt with the hot oil when getting under the car to remove the old oil.
After that, I changed the head gasket (..$25), spark plugs and wires ($40).
After having everything done, just by the sound of the engine idleing, I could tell that it had helped.
