Default 97 Accord EX MT "short shift" question

Me and my friend were going to install a short shifter in his car and found out that, we had to lift the car and remove the catalyctic converter in order to be able to install the short shift. His car is not a Honda btw.....
..so....
..anyway....going back to the real question...
Do I need to lift my car to install a short shift ?..or I just need to remove the center console and do the work.....
Thanks a lot!

I think yours is done all inside the car, but cars that have a shifter rod sometimes you have to go under the car to connect the rod. With a cable shifter I don't think there is anything really under the car.

Pretty sure you do most of the work in the car. Not sure if you're trying to install the adapter or the entire shift lever....

So is it the lever or adapter? Adapter is pretty easy, took me less than 10 minutes to complete. If it's the entire lever that could possibly take the less technically inclined half a day..

Half day? Nahhh. A true short shifter will take about an hour and a half TOPS. It's greasy and some bolts are just really tight. Pretty much a straight forward job.
