I picked one up over the weekend.
2005 w/ navi and 6 speed. Its an incredibly nice car for the price, no complaints yet (well, there's only 50 miles on the odo).

Out the door (taxes and tags) around 37ish.

The new TL's are pretty cool IMO, very sleek body, and blows the old body out of the water. The handling is pretty good and interior is awesome and comfortable.
Not many recalls on them either.

My sister bought a 2005 TL with a 6 speed manual trans, navi and the A-Spec package. The car is really nice and runs fantastic the fact that it is a stick shift.

Its a shame they remained front wheel drive platforms...car would be heavily in contention for my own purchase if it had been rear wheel drive, but oh well, still a decent car overall.

Thats basically the only thing i don't like about the car...but at the same time if you live in an area that can get a good amount of snow, its a good thing to have.

The '04s are rated for 20/30 with the 6MT although the best I've been able to do is 28. It doesn't happen often though as the urge to have some fun is too tempting. I average 23 in mostly city driving.

Damn break in period...I've got ~450 on the odo, how long did you wait until you played with it? I haven't gone above 4 grand yet, and I've only gone above 3500 about 4 times.

That is very true...though an awd option would make for a nice trim line on the TL in cases like that too, and i see that happening before ever seeing a rear wheel drive Acura or Honda luxo car.
The car just has a great powerplant, and it has fantastic lines and a great interior, but when you go driving, that front wheel drive drivetrain just robs it of what makes Bimmers, Infiniti's, and Mercedes so much fun to drive...that and the reliability factor of it having a Honda motor, its just a damn shame, almost a waste being FF.

Good points. I agree, an AWD TL would probably come first but in typical honda / acura fashion, they'd offer it only in auto. For the price of the TL, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say you'll have more fun (in particular: more power, more room for people, tons of more features, etc) in a TL then any 3 series that BMW has to offer short of an M3. Yes the BMW is rwd, but thats ALL it has to offer (don't get me wrong, thats a big thing for me - just look at some of my previous cars) and even the new 330 is slower.
A die hard BMW friend of mine was actually contemplating the TL when he saw the comparison up close (we went out to many dealerships before I bought the TL, including taking a look at the new 3 series).

I think I started romping on it around 1000 miles. It was hard to force myself to be good for that long though, so good luck!
