I wa sunder the impression that it immobalises your car until you enter a code, which prevents someone from driving off with your car if its left unatended.

 

No it is an anti- carjacking feature, it works like this, if someone comes up and wants to jack the car, you let them, they can get in and drive away, blackjax monitors the door input, brakes and engine speed, once the car, [and jacker] is a safe distance away from you blackjax will activate the siren and lights, and when car slows down or stops the immobilizer will kick in and shut the car down, probably no more then a block away, allowing you to recover the car. 94
