Default going to build a hatch

Hello my name is Will im 17 and live in Colubus Ohio

Right now i am driving a 98 Ford Contour SVT nice fun sedan but im looking into building project Hatch.

My budget it pretty small but im thinking i can still build a quick honda.

I would like to spend about 3 to 4 thosand on the setup and then upgrade from there. I want a 89-90 civic hatch and here is the questions i would like to ask you guys.

In my price range i could easly get a ZC dohc or a LS and if i did that i would like to turbo it how much would it cost me INCLUDING labor to have a 6-8 psi turbo setup and a ls engine put in a hatch?

I have also looked at going all motor and getting a b16 vtec setup how much would that cost and would it be worth it over the turbo?

I already have the prices for the engine but i dont know how much it would cost for the labor on a job like this.

If there are any other setups that could be cheaper or close to the same price and worth it please tell me ...thanks alot for your time

it all depends on what you want. My .02 is to get a hatch, do a full suspension on it, get some 99up si wheels, good tires, the put a b series vtec in it. Just with a intake mani, header, intake, ctr cams, clutch and flywheel you will have plent of fun and a reliable car. There will be alot of mixed emotions on here about what to do, but look around on the website and figure what will suit you best. Are you gonna be autox or drag or daily driver or all 3?

most of the people i know that do swaps charge $500 to swap a b16a in and its clean. but thats not at a shop, most shops charge alot to do stuff like that and some probably havent even done it before and will still take in the job. your best bet is to find someone on here that lives in your area and see if they can help you or do the swap themselves for a price. Alot of people on here are nice and will help out fellow H-T members. good luck and choose wisely.

Coming from the SVT Contour, you will be disappointed with the Honda's (lack of) torque.

get a 88 hatch. its the lightest ef hatch but will be more wiring work compared to an si. also i personally think going vtec would be better but yet ls turbo does sound fun too. it all depends on you
