Default is this okay?

Just installed a new suspension set up on my ride and was wondering if it was okay to take off the lock nut that goes on the top middle on the shock piston while the suspension is still on my car? i figure the springs will be compressed by the cars weight anyways and i could just put the lock nut back on until it spins and doesnt tighten anymore. is that okay? thanks..

the piston might drop just enought where you cant put the bolt back on....why do you want to take off that bolt?
