Dynamat useful in a Sol? Free (ghetto) cai?
Most people know that a Sol is not a quiet ride. So, considering that, would it be worth the time to strip out the interior and cover the bottom and the doors and maybe the roof (if enough clearance for dynamat) or would it be a waste of time? Anyone use that stuff? Thanks
If it can be of anyone's interest, I found a way to create a cai out of your stock intake. Just take the resonator (big white box behind the right wheel well splash guard) It would be easier if you took the wheel off, but I didnt. Anyways, take the resonator out by taking out the 3 screws that hold it on and take the U pipe that connects into the resonator out as well. Then, just have the remaining piping run above the hole left from taking out that U pipe. You could cut that U pipe in half and connect the other half to ur filter box, its up to you. Doing that will take about 30 inches of useless travel the air has to go through. But, if your worried about getting exessive dust or water into ur intake by running it like I just said, just block out the hole that goes to the inside of the wheel splash guard and drill out the remaining pipe. I drilled mine all around, and I do get that deeper sound. Your air will be coming from the stock location and shouldnt get water in it. The one downside to doing this as oposed to a cone filter is that you get less surface area from the stock square filter. That or for 40 bucks get a cone filter...As ghetto as it is, it works for me so....

actually i wouldn't consider it any louder than a civic, unless you're talking about creaks from the targa that dynamat won't help. Even the mirrors were specailly designed to provide less wind noise. Dynamat would lower ride noise in any car, but its heavy too, so you'll be weighing yourself down. And there is plenty of clearance for it in the targa.
