how to id b series transmissions

can anyone tell me how to tell the differents between the different b series transmissions (ls/gsr/type r/ si) exc please help trying to not get scamed

The stamps on the tranny. You can't tell between LS and GSR though. Only way is to run the VIN (if there is one) or drive it.

ok my friend said he has a type r that needs rebuilt but how can i tell it is a type r

it should say s80 on the tranny with a bar code sticker on it. jdm or usdm?
