Service Required light
I know i have to take in my car to see whats wrong, but i didnt know if a YELLOW service light was anything different than a RED light. Never seen yellow before.
It's triggered by mileage (odometer). There is no sensor or anything like that. You're supposed to reset it when you get an oil change. You can reset it by using your key. Push it inside the opening in the instument cluster and will go back to green.
Whether you need any kind of tune up all depends on when you did it last. If the MRL wasn't reset when you had the last service done then it may not be accurate.

alright so i wanna figure out whats wrong, if anything, with my car. But i dont wanna over pay a shop to check only to find out there is nothing. is there an easy way i can check things?
1. Read The F..ing Manual(RTFM) and determine which warning light has come on.
2. If it's the Check Engine Light(CEL) go to your local auto parts store and they usually have a code reader that they will let you use for free to pull the code from the engine computer. In addition you can use the reader to reset the CEL in most cases.
3. If it's the Maintenance Required Light(MRL), use the directions in the previous post to reset the light. It is just a reminder based on the mileage driven.

1. i do not have a F..ing manual, i bought my car used and did not have one.
2. it is NOT the CEL if you would have read the post thoroughly you would have known that.
SO next time u decide to be a smart ***, maybe you should try and figure out the situation. Im just trying to ask a few simple questions. This is a help forum for people who need help, not for people who need to be told when to read.

Doesn't seem like anything is wrong. The MRL isn't something to indicate a problem. It's to indicate service intervals. If properly reset when service is done.

the maintanance lite is no big deal...you dont need a tune up..........honda sets it to come on every 7500 miles when is time for minor service interval . the lite goes from green , to yellow , to red ...yellow meaning you are getting close to service time .....that lite should be reset by a shop , or whomever does the work on your car ,again the maintanance lite is no big deal, nothing wrong with the car ,,,

Go to http://www.ahm-ownerlink.com & sign up. Put in your car's VIN or model/year or whatever... You can see the maintenance schedule, showing all the items that are supposed to be done at all those mileage intervals.
Look back at the service intervals that you've already missed. Then you can guess whether there's any major items that the previous owner might have skipped??
What's your mileage now & what do you know about maintenance that was or wasn't done before you bought it?

It's just the yellow service required light, very different from the red check engine light. As stated, this light comes on every 7,500 miles (at least on the 6th generation) to remind you to perform whatever service is needed.

The original owner's manual reference was for the poster to read it to see what the lights mean. As for how to get a paper copy...

</TD></TR></TABLE>No...
For different years, there's different methods for resetting the maint.req. lamp. Look for something that sorta looks like an odometer reset button, but it's kinda flush with the front lens of the instrument cluster. Can't push it with your finger, you push it with your key, or a pencil, or something like that.
Resetting the maint.req. lamp has nothing to do with resetting the ECU.

A repair manual is a good thing to have. It can save you tons of money on repairs if you are machanicly inclined. And even if you don't do your own maintenance and repairs you can learn a lot about your car,( if you plan to keep it for a while).

I wholeheartedly agree. True, you will need to buy some tools (and I recommend buying good ones, like Craftsman), but even after you buy the different tools you need you'll still be ahead (assuming you did the job right), and you'll have the tools for next time.
And the owner's manual also has a lot of useful information, they aren't too expensive on ebay.
