D16y7 swap in '89 crx hf...what ecu?
hey guys,
my bro and i just finished the swap and we had originally bought a 90-91 civic ex ecu for it. but the car will not start with this ecu. we had to use the original hf ecu to get the car to start. should i go get another ecu? will it even work with the swap? do i have to modify some wires for the 90-91 ex ecu to work? thanks for the input.

thanks for the reply. is that the ONLY ecu i can use????
and yes, i used all of my Hf stuff (intake manifold, dizzy, etc) so the car is still OBDO.

No, that isn't the only ECU you can use. You can use a PR4, PM7, PG7, and a PM8 (Obviously.) I think a PW0 and a Pre-OBD PR3 will work if you don't mind the CEL on all the time. I am guessing you already know this, but that HF intake manifold is not cool. Your first upgrade should probably be an A6 manifold. I tried a Y8 manifold on my D15 when I did my MPFI conversion and everything works fine except the AIT sensor has to either be dangled or set in the intake piping. Hey, good luck.
thanks for the info. yea i know the hf intake manifold is holding me back a little. i don't really mind because we just did the swap mainly for knowledge...my buddy just had the motor in his garage. i'm saving up for a better swap but this will do in the mean time...
