Default 91 Accord Ex tranny/differential problems

My brothers 91 Accord EX coupe 5sp is popping the passenger side axle out of the differential so much that it can’t be driven. It was making noise that sounded like a bad cv but after I changed the cv it started the popping out thing. I've tried 2 so far.
I did notice the excessive play when moving the inner cv up and down. I believe the differential is damaged and will need to be replaced. Opinions?
I suspect my nephew has been doing a little racing to cause this problem.
Do you know if an LX 5sp transaxle will fit in an EX? All the books say the EX uses a different transaxle. I can't seem to locate an EX 5sp.
Is the differential and transmission "one piece" on the accord? I have 2 2nd gen Legends and they are 2 seperate parts. I don't know a lot about the accord.

Thanks

Jetdoc

From what I've been reading, looks like the Lx 5 sp tranny is the same as the EX except for the gear ratio and will fit. ?????
