N/A guys curious about turbos?
I'm not posting this to start any arguements or flame wars or anything like that.
Personally, I'm at a time in my life where I feel my fully built turbo Type-R is not where I want to take the car ultimately. After much interconflict I've come to the conclusion that I would be more than happy with something I can put around town with and go to the grocery store etc. etc. and 500whp, I feel, is a bit over kill for my personal needs.
Curious if you N/A guys are fine where your at with your builds, yern for more power, or have no idea of what you want?

Ive always been impressed by the turbo #'s you guys put down, but ive always felt that you must walk before you run...
Before you jump into a 500hp turbo setup, you should learn the fundamentals and master the understanding of naturally apirated engines first. Then once you learn all the "little tricks" you can apply them to the monster build...
I am happy w/ my numbers+ performance, but will not be satisfied until I reach my goal of a 12 second naturally aspirated civic pump gas and daily driven...
After that, ill rebuild for something crazy.
If you want a nice streetable engine, id suggest a b20, moderate compression, built head and tuning should make that a fun little ride. You could always spray a littleon top of that if that wasnt enough
For the street= all motor
Highway/track=turbo

I've been curious about turboed cars esp. since driving in my friend's turbo LSV. The sound, the pull, the "g". . .just ridiculous. But my fellow NAer above posted some good points. I think I might go turbo, but thats a long way from now.
^^ PyroProblem posted some good points. Since you can turbo a motor without touching internals, you could learn about turboing, but not know much about the motor internally, something that comes naturally with anyone doing the NA thing. Having this knowledge would help in either route IMHO.
Anywho, I'm with you on this for a couple reasons. The main reason is I see turbo as being the most cost efficient way to go fast (NOS doesn't count, I'm talking readily available power). I've spent enough on my car to have a decent turbo setup by now; I could've had 100 more whp if I went down the turbo route. Another reason is turbo allows you to have a heavier, full interior car (like a DC) and still be able to smash on a good amount of the competition. A modest turbo setup making sub-300whp would make a good street car IMHO. Also, I'm tired of losing to my buddies with their HomeMadeTurbo setups, haha. I was actually planning on being boosted by the end of this summer, but things didn't work out. I only want 250-300 whp out of it as well. I think it'd be pretty sweet to have that much power in my daily driven, 2700 lbs DC.
NA is pretty damn awesome though, more awesome than slapping together a basic boost setup. It's something I wish I could pursue much further (I didn't get very far before deciding not to invest anymore into it), but it wouldn't work out for me because it takes more money, and more time. I don't have either.

this is a very good discussion, cause my boy has a turbo LsVtec and he's making 308whp @ 11psi on all "stock" ****! i have spent a little more than him on my Built GissseR and i'm hoping for at least 200whp on 93oct. Everyone kept trying to get me to build a turbo car but i sticked to my guns and kept it -N/Atural-......
