Default It finally happened....:*-(

I was heading home on a street close to my house when I was splitting lanes from far back to the front of the line (cutting in line) I notice i passed a cop, he didnt care that I was going between traffic so Im guessing it is legal or he simply just doesnt care...

I get to the front of the line and see an 01-03' Gsx-R 750 to the right of the next lane over. He says whats up and right away he ask "Lets see you do a wheelie" I got nervous and say "Hey theirs a cop car about 4-5 lights back" He shut his lid and as I was about to tap my helmet he took off on the green.

I hear him rev real loud and stand up on his pegs...Brings the front up to a nice wheelie and right away I hear the sirens. I thought to myself thats it hes done, is he gonna pull me over and I'm going to get busted also.

The cop car goes behind the bike while hes still in a wheelie... sets it down and pulls over. Thats all I saw but I feel sorry for the guy. If he would of waited 2 more seconds for me to tap my helmet he wouldn't of done that wheelie.

I was wonder what is the law for Orange County, California. What do they do with your bike. My friend had his impounded for doing wheelies on pch 3 months ago, but he said they just take your bike and you dont get it back. That true?

Stay safe out their guys and keep your tires down. Go to a closed area if you want to do wheelies.

Cliff Notes: Guy does wheelie before I can tell him theirs a cop car behind us. I didnt go down on my bike if thats what you thought, I was riding safe

Lane splitting is illegal. Lane sharing is just frowned upon (NOT illegal).

The difference is really splitting hairs (insert laugh here). Sharing means you remain in one lane with the vehicle, whereas splitting is when the motorcycle is constantly changing lanes.

Good to hear that nothing bad happened to you. The other guy should have been more aware of his surroundings before pulling a stunt. Hope he learns to keep an eye out.

Seems quite a few people from cali never read the motorcycle hand book from the dmv.....

It is very legal in cali to split lanes as it is in most states how ever there are states where it is not legal.

How ever in the car pool lane it is not legal for the simple fact that 99% of the time next to those double yellow lines there is a solid white line. Which if you remember from the drivers handbook means do not pass....

How ever you will still see bikers spliting lanes in the car pool lane cause lets face it for the most part its the safest lane to be in during traffic... How ever most cops won't even give you a second look unless they really want to be ********

Here i thought this was gonna be I finally got my gixxer 1000 thread...I was like ahhh wonderful....thats what you needed....

on the other hand i did consider the "i finally put it down after 500 miles on a brand new bike" thread too....

you finally roll that pig over 500 miles yet? i mean youve had it almost 2 months??
insurance must be cheaper in california, cause insurance for me to go from a 750 to a 1000 is almost double....its sick...i pay more per month on a 1000 cc bike than i do for a year on my car....not that id buy a 1000 anyway =p

haha nah I didnt get a gixxer 1000. Ima pay half my bike off and get a truck. Then go from there...

I didnt drop my bike. Due to High gas prices it takes $92 to fill up my suburban and I have about 800 miles on my bike now. I did an oil change w/ a friend of mine so I can learn how to do it. Taking off the fairings was a pain in the ***. haha

Now I know how to change my oil.

My insurance is paid off already... $350 a year w/ full coverage and theft. Im 21 w/ a clean record.

I keep telling people about the insurance place but I never get around to posting it up with the phone number.

I promise though when I get to work tomorrow morning I will post up the company name, the phone number, and the representative that you speak to. Just tell her Aaron reffered you to her

I know it works in California, Not sure about other states.

Why??

Lets see, I have collision coverage because if i put my bike down lowsiding (which i have done) I will need coverage to fix it unless i had an extra $3000 to put into replacements (which i dont). I have comprehensive becuse i like to know if my bike get stolen, taht i don't loose $15,000. I have valdalism coverage because i have heard too many stories of guys comming out of a mall or something and have there bikes knocked over, and i don't want to have to deal with that....I have liability of 2 millions because it is required by law here... I know it sounds extremely paranoid but id rather NOT loose between $3,000 and $15,000 because i said, naw i don't want that, maybe im crazy...you guys don't have that coverage?? I know down in some states that insurance is just dirt cheap, and i wish it could be here, but the rates are only getting higher...

I have liability, 360 a year.

IMO if i'm going to drop the bike it would prolly be pretty totalled or if i just low sided, new fairings and little things shouldn't be TOOO expensive. If my bike cost 3g's to fix, I would just part the salvaged parts out, I bought my bike for 5000 - it wouldnt be worth fixing it for 3000 id just go buy a new one.

Yeh if your bike only cost $5000 or whateevr then thats not bad, but my bike was $12,000 and i put close to $3,000 into it so its not worth the gamble to me. And like they say, you don't buy it, your gonna need it, if you buy it you won't need it

DAMN that 06 GSX-R 750 is HOTT!!! Im going to have a bithc of a time deciding which 06 to buy, I rode the 05 600rr last week and i wasn't impressed at all, feels so unstable comapired to my gixxer but that could be just cause im used to the wide stability of the gixxer. Know if they are making any other modifications??? other than looks?
