Default insolveable problem (highway vibrations)

ok, ive been trying to figure out this problem for the last couple months and to no avail. 55+ mph my car has a wobble/ shake, ive replaced axles, wheel bearings, balljoints, tie-rod ends, balanced the wheel numerous times, replace engine mounts and the problem wont go away. can anyone give me insight on what my problem might be? also my car is drop about 2.25 inches....im starting to think it might be my differential. thanks in advance

Did you try an alignment yet, if not that might be the problem.

I had the same problem and it ended up being a bad axle. I know you said you changed them out, but it is a good chance one is not balanced. I kept buying autozone axles and kept the same issue. I went to honda finally and asked WTF. The parts manager told me to just try some OEM axles. I thought he was just being a good saleman and get me to buy them from honda because they are expensive!! Anyway i did and it fixed my problem.

I spoke to autozone when I returned the axles and they even told me sometimes even though the axles are usually rebuilt OEM they tend to get bent slightly or messed up during the rebuild process. I don't want to tell you to go buy new OEM axles, god knows they were NOT CHEAP!!! but is worth taking another look at.

My only other suggestion is the bearing that is in the end of the half shaft. It's number 23.

Hope this helps.

if they were new then I would say it is something else. is everything at or above it's +/- torque specification? I can look at it for you, if need be. hit me up.

my autozone axles make the car vibrate at 55 to 65 sometimes. I'm too lazy to take them back, besides they would probably just give me a set that had worse problems. Honda stock axles would be the only safe bet but too much money for me to worry about.

A vibration on accel is USUALLY a bad inner cv joint. If the joint is bad enough it can vibrate at hwy speeds and it can disappear and reappear depending on speed. Tire balance issues show up as a steering wheel shimmy and most tire vibrations can be eliminated by trying a different set of tires.

Totally different car, but I had the same problem on my old Beretta - turned out the bolt that runs through the stabilizer arm had snapped. Pain in the *** to diagnose, didn't find it until I change brakes since it sits behind the rotors, but was an easy fix.

i had an old set of gorilla locks on my CRX, much bigger and heavier than the stock lug nuts. that would make my the car shake on the freeway.

Just some more probably useles information.

Good luck

I am going to bet you have an out of round rim or tire. Balancing the wheel will not help if it is not round. I have an out of round STOCK rim on my 05 TypeS that is causing this same problem.

yea i thought that too, but the tires are like a month old and in good shape, imma try switching to a different set of wheels and see if that helps

if it goes away at 80 its a balance issue

also does it vibrate accelerating only?

Definately sounds like a tire/wheel problem. Have the tire shop put the rim on a hunter 9000 and check the rims for runout and the tires for hard spots.
