Default Overfilled power steering fluid, why is this bad ?

I over filled my power stering fluid, and I'm wondering why this is bad for the car or why it isn't reccomended.

Can someone chime in and explain ?

Only reason I can think of is that if you over fill the resorvoir, the fluid could leak out (under certain situations) and ruin your paint & whatever belt it's near by.

I don't think it has any mechanical downside... but, correct me if I'm wrong.

if you overfill it, the cap won't go on.
