Default Coil Tower Spring

Is there a location from where a person can get a replacement coil tower spring? I threw mine away, believing that my replacement Distributor Cap/Rotor pack would have one. Not so from any Auto Shop I've called (Advance Auto Parts, Auto Zone, O'Reilly Auto Parts). I've currently got a Non-Honda replacement carrying the load. I phoned my Local Honda garage/dealer who said they'd sell me a new coil tower with one, but one can't get JUST the spring. I laughed in the parts guy's ear, then apologized. OR...does anyone know of a 'Creative Engineering' way to get the spark from coil to distributor cap? I used a retractable pen-spring for a couple of months, but found a spring in a liquid soap pump that was appropriate diameter, and cut it down to approx length, about 1/8" above the coil tower-stem. As a 2ndary question: any issues with incorrect resistance? Should I have used just regular copper, coiled to form?
