Default Slicks + OEM Clutch

I already know what the consequenses are for having a oem clutch and using slicks, but my real question is how many people have done it and how long did your clutch last? again this is for those who have done it so please do not put any of your input if your trying to speak on it to make your post count higher...

B16 in EG, oem Honda Type R clutch, 22x8 slicks, well over 150 passes, consistant 11 second passes. It was still pulling fine with an occasional slip on a 8k rpm launch when I sold it a few months ago.

b20 vtec spraying 300.we made somewhere around 10 passes in an 1/8 mile.then it would start slipping when on the spray...but drive fine on the street.we finally put a exedy clutch in it stage 2-3 cain't remember...and we sprayed 400 on it this week end, first pass 7.18 spinning like crazy....then started raining.so i would say a 6 is coming very soon.

Just get a clutch. What's the point of building your car or racing it if you can't get all the power to the ground? The stock clutch might last for a while, but a good aftermarket clutch is a must if you ask me. I am a cheap *** too (only spent like 1100 total on my turbo kit), but when it comes to some things I got the good **** (ACT xtss clutch, Quaife LSD, etc...). Getting the power to the ground and traction is more important than power in my opinion.

You can upgrade a clutch down the road, if you have a oem clutch in and it holds up good to trips to the track once in a while and lots of street driving there is no reason to spend the money on a clutch.

the reason im asking is because i am going to borrow my friends 22 in slicks and was just wondering if my clutch would hold up at a day at the track. thanks to everyones input i think it will be ok for a few passes at the strip.

-another question: with nitrous do you usually wait for the car to hook up when you launch before you hit the juice? or should I since I will be running slicks hit the juice while im launching since i'll be running slicks? i dont know if that made sense or not.

personally, i don't think it matters how many people have done this, or how long did it last, or whatever the case is. like they say different strokes for different folkes. you have to just try it. i've tryed it a few times i've burnt oem clutches out on the first pass, but then on the other hand i have had oem clutches last over 20 passes. so, whatever you choose. just ask john from the hay to get you a 4 or 6 puck disc. that will do you right for the meantime.. good luck powerline707
