do high c/r engines burn oil faster?
i have a 12:1 c/r fully built gsr daily driver, i noticed that it goes though oil alot faster, it only has 2k on it and doesn't smoke or leak one bit. is this normal or has anyone heard this before? thx
It should not burn more oil.
However, if you do a lot of auto-x/road racing where you are sustaining high RPM's, you're crankcase pressure will be greater than before, and you are likely to see some oil shoot through your PCV. As a preventative, you can install a catch can between your PCV and IM.

I beat on mine all the time and it can use up to 1/2 qt. a week. This is driving about 250 miles a week w/ at least 30-40% in vtec revving up to 9k max. It seems acceptable to me. High revving and high compression ,your going to use a little bit of oil. Just like forced inducted cars...

i guess you could say it consuming more oil since there is not really any physical evidence of it smoking (burning). maybe im just looking too much into it. it is only useing up about a quart every 750 -1000 or so. i'll just keep an eye on it. thx
any other comments welcome

yes it will burn oil, honda dual cam vtec motors are oil consumers, they do this to keep properly lubricated at high rpm, and i think its just because they seriously cant prevent it... valve seals are only so strong, same with rings, and at 9k rpm with 12:1 compression, think of how much pressure is there..
my R motor looses plenty of oil when ripped on, its acceptable and allowable.
an oil cooler and a heavier weight oil will help..
