Anti Freeze smell, could this be my head gasket?
I also have another problem, I have a faint smell and a slow leak somewhere in my cooling system. I have recently replaced the radiator and also the hoses for this because a shop told me that was my problem (I was smelling this anitfreeze then as well). I have cleaned my engine fairly well and I am not able to see any leaks and there is no puddle under my car.
I cracked my head gasket about 3 years ago from overheating so this part is new.
My reserve antifreeze tank does not over flow and I have tried everything. If my head gasket has cracked again, would I be able to smell this antifreeze? It does not seem to be this because there is no unusual smell coming from me exhaust.
Any suggestions would be great.

you may have a little puddle somewhere you dident get when you cleaned it, you shouldent be able to smell it with a blown head gasket unless its leaking past the head and onto the outside of your engine in which case you should be able to see it.
Other then that how bout your water pump? Theres a weep hole in it to indicate when its going bad, it will drip from there its a possibility to check out at least.

I think that I found out my issue. The lower radiator hose was loose. It was just a couple drips that landed on the rock sheild for the engine so I tightened that and hosed down the engine. I will continue to wait for that smell and check the water level.
Thanks! My next shot was to check out the water pump. I hope that doesnt go because that looks like a pain to replace.
