Speedometer Indicator.... 97 prelude

Alright guys.... the speedometer indicator on the M2F4 tranny I know I can bypass the hoses coming out of it, but if I do this will it effect anything. What are the for....What it's purpose?

the hoses coming out of it are for the powersteering. wont really effect anything if you want to bypass them.
