Default covering VIN number on front window legal??

Since thieves can make a key from dealer with VIN number. i know many people covered their VIN number on front window.

My question is that is that legal?? i mean say if someone is giving me a parking ticket or ect. and they do check VIN numbers dont they?? and if VIN was covered, that will lead to another problem?

let me know what do guys know.

pull your dash out..and put a piece of electrical tape on the little window for the vin on the window then proceed to re install the dash.... that way even you cant get the vin lol

covering your vin# is illegal.

but it really doesnt matter because a smart thief can get your vin# from your license plates...

besides. they can also get a dent puller and pull out any of your key cylinders and then read the key code on it to get a key cut.. and all key cylinders have them unless you sand them down.

so keep your car close and out of sight as much as possible and leave your vin# visible... because there are other ways of getting your key made

and if you have the key code, you dont have to go to any dealer,, you can give the key code to joe shmoe that charges $1.00 to make a key... down the street. who is more than happy to earn a dollar from you.
