Default Would you put regular 87 octane fuel in your 5th gen?

It seems that there is a fuel shortage of premium fuel in my area and was debating if I should put regular fuel in my lude cause Im running on empty now. Should I take the risk?

87 will run in your prelude, the gas mileage might not be as good...but I dont think it would cause any harm. I have ran regular in my 93 Si...and I havent had any problems when I did it. I wouldnt recommend doing it all the time though. BUT I COULD BE WRONG ABOUT IT ALL!

If your at stock compression, you should be ok.
If it would make you any better, try putting only a 1/4 of a tank of 87 and driving around, if you don't here any knocks your good to go.
If your still worried fill up on 87 and get some octane booster, but I would say you'll be fine with just the 87.

woudn't it be harmful for the engine,if it didn't, the gas tank woudn't say unleaded premium fuel only...no? to be safe if you put 87 i would put some octane booster with it just in case.

Yes but don't take your car into vtec. 5pts of octane does make a difference... as long as you don't put the engine under heavy load you'll be fine. I'm just really **** when it comes to this stuff.

I don't understand why people try to save .20/gal to risk an engine that's worth well over $3k.
