Default opinions/help?

ok, I just bought a 1990 honda accord four door auto. Body is in near mint shape, interior is average. engine ok tans ok. This is my first time being here and first time owning a honda. I replaced starter and did a tune up.

Ok now the important questions. I want to do a five speed swap. Is their a direct swap?
how is the 2.2 as far as engines go? Will any other engines "cheaply" swap in there?
Dont want vtec, because i know its not cheap!

Thats about it, also I would like any links to how to's, or other sites that might intrest me. btw, im a mechanic so dont worry about me not having the mechanical abililty to do something of this nature. I just want some research on the topic.

THanks bone!

Ok me again.
Um not really looking to swap engine. But thanks for links. I was looking into just swapping in a five speed and building up the engine thats in there.
So, i would assume that the five speed swap would be the same for what i plan to do?

Ok abridged version of what i want to do.

go to junk yard and rip trans out of five speed accord 90-93 ( or other years that can also work)
put it in m car.
Of caurse i would get all the hardware necessary to do the swap ( pedals, linkage,etc...)

Thanks for your fast, non flame responces.

Relax, there's not a lot of flamers in here (ouch )

I'd suggest you do read thru the entire thread that I posted, and then perform (friendly suggestion) a search under such as "5spd", or "manual Conversion" and get as many "I've done it" threads as you can, and read them.
It's not all cut & dried as it seams. You have to grab the shifter mechanism, console, cables, mount and other such stuff also.
Cheer up tho, it's a very common conversion (much like the H22), just be clear what you need, and how to do it.

As always thanks for your help. Ive read the five speed swap twice now so its seems very feasable. Im just not to familiar with hondas, particullarly their engine codes and transmission codes. My question arrives from the fact that the swap link was done in a 5th gen. And mine is a fourth gen. What are the differences in the two gens if any pertaining to the five speed swap.

Mechanically, they are identical. Ie: Hydraulic clutch, ect.
The easiest way to attack this is to procure a "Parts Car" for a couple hundred bucks of the same year and just start pullin' and a puttin' refering to proceedures spelled out in the thread.

I can't advise you on using a trans out of a 5th gen for your swap; 'cuz the 5th gen is a wider chassis (axles may be longer) etc. and there may be other complications I'm not aware of. As you will note in the two links I supplied, Honda uses two different Part Numbers for the Trans Case, which could signal significant changes, or no more than a supplyer change.
It will be a LOT easier if you could procure the set up from any '90 thru '93 Accord (they're all the same chassis).
