NSX people, compare your car to???
Ive been looking to get anew car and the NSX is near the top of my list...
Ive been looking in the 40-55K range and my options that i have come up with are
1997+ NSX (silver or yellow)
2001+ BMW M5
2003 MB E55 AMG
1996 911 T
Ive chosen the NSX as top because of reliability, low maintenance, low COST of maintenence (in comparison) as well as looks
I know it cant conpete in speed to the others, but the luxury and speed oft he others out weighs the NSX...
If honda had put a better (higher hp) motor i that car it would be perfect....
I dont want another toy--- My 400hp integra is more than enough....
for those of you guys who have an NSX-- what do you suggest....
thanks

Kinda depends on what the car is for, no?
I, personally, find it hard to overcome any objections to the e55 AMG or m5. If you can't pimp those, you can't pimp anything.
My NSX is a track car that sees street use if I want to practice heel and toeing. The car gets glances but I couldn't care less. I wouldn't recommend an NSX for any other reason than for driving a great sports car.

Not an NSX guy but ive worked on all 4 cars you spoke of. The Bimmer is nice and amazingly quick and easy to work on but we had many Bimmers come in for maintenance quite frequently (random **** would just happen, usually electrical). Mercedes Benz has the same pluses and problems as BMW. I may get flamed for this but Porsches are crap. I would never buy a VW/Audi/Porsche ever because of the huge amount of problems they have and how hard they are to work on. The NSX is prolly the easiest of the four to work on (not saying that its easy, but it is easier) and as you said, its biggest plus is its reliability as a Honda. I think youll have the least amount of problems with it. I second ure decision. Go with the NSX.
That is the most scatter brained list of cars I have ever seen.
Should I get a Hatchback, Ferrari, Vespa or Hyabusa?
Do us all a favor and get the NSX.

nah youre good!
my dad has had three NSXs, a 1991 Sebrind Silver, a 1993 White and most recent a 1998 Kaiser Silver. ive seen him go through many things on his NSXs and none of them had anything major break (other than the 91, had a snap ring problem in the tranny but Honda knew about it and fixed it for 93+) i dont know about the other cars but the NSX is solid for sure

Speaking of a Hayabusa, I saw a three hundred pound man riding one on the freeway yesterday. I had a sneaking suspicision that that combination couldn't do 185+mph straight off of the showroom floor. It looked like he was riding a Shetland pony. Poor bike.

I'm going to disagree here. I wouldn't get the NSX unless you were overwhelmingly compelled to drive one. The car is too impractical for most people's everyday use.

First question: Do you want a sports car or a luxury sedan? If you want a sports car, you probably won't be satisfied with either of the two luxury sedans. If you want a luxury sedan, you probably won't be satisfied with either of the two sports cars.
The '96 911 Turbo is probably going to cost you around $65K, give or take, whereas the '97 NSX will be more like $50K. So there's significant a price advantage to the NSX. As well as reliability, handling, looks... in fact, about the only advantage to the 911 Turbo is straight-line acceleration.
Try driving the cars you're considering. And make sure you take the NSX all the way to redline before shifting, if you want to see what kind of acceleration it's capable of!

the bmw porsche and mercedes will be very expensive to maitain. i've driven all of the cars on your list except the mercedes, and i wouldnt want anything but the nsx.
again, it is all about what you need the car for. the porche is ******* rediculously hard to work on.
my biggest pet peeve with bmws is the selfdestructing bushings, and the ******* windows that allways fall off of the tracks, as well as window motors going out. not to mention the fact that bmw has made it virtually impossible to get the same level of service from an independent shop, that you can from the dealership. i worked in an independent shop, and we had tons of diagnostic equipment, but in order to get something that would diagnose as efficiently as the dealership, we would have to spend more money than it was worth.
the nsx really will be the easiest of the list to own.

96 911 turbo would be an investment that will give a return. I would NEVER miss an opportunity to own one of the last air cooled porsches made.
Ask this question anywhere else and I bet most will say the same thing too. THat car is a token of german engineering history that will never be forgotten.

Well looking over the list that he's got a few of those are going to be running out of warranty soon and if this guy has never owned an MB or Bimmer out of warranty he's in for a HUGE surprise. besides I want to be the only **** on H-T with an E55.
An air cooled 993 TT in good condition, which is how he MUST have it if he is to enjoy it, is also going to be slightly north of his projected price range.
This is why I say NSX, good reliability and it won't be scary outside the umbrella of a warranty.

thanks for the advice guys--
If I were to get any of those "luxury sedans" I would anticipate purchasing a 100K warranty to maintain drive train etc... problems
I dont consider them luxury sedans though-- more of a luxurious sporst car (wolf in sheeps clothing.... a 4dr sedan that does 0-60 in 4.2 or 4.7 is hardly slow..... even by turbo standards....
I agree with the porsche topic-- I feel like if i got one at my age people would think i have a small weewee and thats why i got a sports car to make up for it
maintenance would be a pain.... etc....
the sedans would be nice to have 4drs (for clients ) and speed (for me) etc....
I guess ive decided on the NSX just needed convincing... i think i have decide3d that once i get more settled after the nsx i may go with an M5 or E55 newer model.....
thanks for the advice and any more on the NSX would be great.... any other cars you guys would suggest to "boost my spirits......"
this is kinda being done to get over a relationship and get on with my life.... (and im only 27.... F im old!!!!
