You're going to have a problem with the tabs that are left from the metal squeal clips. You need to grind them down so the surface is flat with the rest of the pad.

I use a dremel cutting wheel to cut them off and grind them down flush.

Aftermarket pads - such as endless, etc don't come with the metal squeal clips.

No, take off all the clips you won't be needing them. And make SURE the washer that was supplied goes between the bracket and the caliper, not just on the end of the bolt. If not you'll have rubbing issues on the oustide pad.

i always thought the thousands of lbs of clamping force from the piston held the pad in

Nope. You don't have to move anything from the factory caliper besides pads.

confused? I'm using Ferodo ds3000 as far as I remember and the pad is ever so slightly smaller than the space available on the spoon caliper hence the pad knock. hmmm maybe i should try some other pads...

the washer goes between the caliper and the bracket to shim the pads out so that they all have equal amount of room on each side. I got away with using the washer on the bolt before, but since I switched to new rotors and pads I can't do it anymore, the outside pad will just drag on the rotor. If you don't use the washer between the bracket and caliper your gonna run into problems.

Try it out both ways, and see which way is the best way in getting your caliper in line/centered with the rotor. I used my washer just like a washer, and DID NOT put it in between the caliper and bracket. It was impossible for me to do it any other way.

I have AEM pads and it makes the same noises that you described, at the same situations too. Oh well, just gotta get used to it I guess.

If you're using the itr specific spoon clappers, then you have to use the washer between the knuckle and the calipers to center them over the rotor.....

If you have a 5-lug swapped vehicle other than itr, or are using the EK9 specific spoon calipers, then you may not need to use the washer.....

In conclusion: do whatever it takes to center the calipers over the rotors.

It was a pain in the butt, but not all too difficult.

Just run the washer between the caliper and bracket and call it day...you still haven't put those one yet!? This post has gone on for weeks!

i get this from time to time. Not all the time though.

What (I THINK) I get is rattling from the pads. Anybody else experience this? I can really hear them rattle when I go over bumpy roads. (Azenis 215 on stock rims)

When parked, I can thump the front tire with my hand and hear the pads rattle. Is there a fix to the rattling or does nobody else notice it?

edit: I was told by private message to adjust the black tabs on the calipers. Could someone post a picture of them and exactly how to adjust them? I just dont understand.

There's no adjustment... it's a slide in pad and wash your hands deal... Make sure you grind the tabs off of the back of the pads if they have them and slide them in... Hit Vtec and you won't hear the knock! Everyone says they have this issue but I don't have it anymore...I run blanks and don't have the problem.
