In the process of changing my oil pressure sensor I noticed a black hose, what appears to be a vacuum line, hanging down above the area just to the left (if laying under the car) and up that is disconnected and hanging down. Now it connects to a black box about 4"x6" that is on the underside of the IM (is not visible from the top of the motor). On my car it it connects to little blue plastic fitting on this box. That plastic fitting got broken off.

Anyway - anybody happen to know what this "black box" is?

I tend to be really **** when I know something like that is not connected the way it is supposed to be; just wondering what it's affecting.

 

It controls the secondaries in the intake manifold.

Nice, I didn't know that. So since I removed my secondaries, can I remove the vacuum canister?

 

you removed the secondaries and didnt remove the hoses and the box and solonoid? so you just left the vaccum house hanging. yes you can remove it and probably sell it. some people actually use these (like myself)

But yes its for your secondaries and yes that box does break easily. the box I think I bought it from honda was 25. and the solonoid is 115.

Well, my motor actually hasn't gone back together yet, so I don't have anything hanging, except the entire wire-harness in an empty engine bay
