Default Is my 4.7 ITR tranny actually 4.7?

i was just up late thinking of stupid things. and i was thinking to my self about my tranny. I know its a 4.7 ITR tranny i bought it brand new.

I just thinkin cause the cheap way to lower the FD is to do the rim swap with smaler side wall.

Now the 4.7 was meant for the the ITR. but im runnin 14" wheels with a 195/50/14 tire. is it still a 4.7 or would it be higher or lower? just curious..

sorry for this pointless dumb question

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html I guess it would be like having a higher final drive, as your tires are quite a bit smaller than the 195 55 15 that come on the itr's

THe smaller diameter would effectively raise your final drive.

Take it apart and count the teeth on the ring gear or 4th gear doing 80mph rpm so be alest 4,500.

I dont find this question dumb at all...

According to the calculators that I've looked at your final drive would be a little higher.
