6x9 in civic lx (93)
okay, as most of you already know in a 93 civic the rear speakers are 6.5 holes not 6x9. i am gonna put some 6x9's in my car but here is what i want to know, its more of an opinioin than anything.
my 2 ways are
Cutting holes out for the 6x9's
or
getting some of thsoe 6x9 speaker boxes and cutting holes for the boxes in the carpet behind the seats, this way they sit down inside a little bit and it will hold them solid.
if anyone has any better ideas please share, i do know that in a box they would sound much better.

The sheet metal of your rear deck is an integral part of your car DO NOT CUT it, you can run into a leaking rear window, and/or buckling of sheet metal, and as 6x9s ar designed for the average car trunk, installing them in small 6x9 box's is restrictive. Also the proper mounting of speakers is very important to how they will sound, a properly mounted 6.5" will sound a lot better then a improperly mounted 6x9.
IMO anything that cuts the rear deck of the car is not a good idea.
IMO you should get rid of the 6x9s and get a set of 6.5", you will be way better off in the long run.

i have had 6.5s sound excellent, however. the 6.5's in the back, it cant mount flush, no way to seal it off around the edges.
i got the ones in the door mounted and sealed off around the edges and they sound wonderful.
and for 6x9 in a box, i have heard them in a box, and they sound just as good as in not in a box.
if you give me an idea of how to mount my rear 6.5s so that the edges of the speaker are sealed off, so the only air passing is through center part of the speaker, under, and above the speaker. that would be great. (i plug the extra holes on the speaker with silicon so air wont go through those either)
