at night when i have my headlights on they'll dim and brighten along with my dash light and i was thinking that it might be that the alternator is going bad if not already close to junk. i was just looking for some input

My gauge cluster lights and headlights did the same thing, but only at very low RPM (less than 800, I adjusted my idlea tad higher and that helped eliminate the problem). My permanent solution was a new alternator, but I am sure there is another more technical explanation why and how to fix it.

 

If it isn't RPM sensative, I'd lay my bet on it being the headlight switch on the steering column.

isnt another problem for this being the ground wires for the breaks.
my dash lights and headlights dim when dropping to low RPM at idle
but also if i use my breaks they dim. i was told its the ground wires for the break lights causing the problem.
i dont know for sure but thats what ive been told
