it's not hp..it's more of torque being your concern.

 

Ok, then how much TQ can it handle?

 

oh tq...well just divide the top really big number by like half

 

what the tranny can actually hold is not the question.

the question is:

how much will the synchros, clutch, flywheel and gears, axles and LSD hold?

And i dont know from experience, but this is .02 cents below

stock 220 HP rated on tranny = ok
300 HP+ = new clutch needed...optional flywheel to something stronger
400 HP+ = new clutch, flywheel, and LSD
500 HP+ = new clutch, flywheel, LSD, axles
600 HP+ = new clutch, flywheel, LSD, axles, gear sets, so on

when making high horsepower, i would also recommend synchro mesh
maybe even a new clutch master cylinder
