94 accord LX 5 spd both electric fans quit working, relay??
i just noticed both my fans dont work while sitting in a hugeass line at the last gas station in my town with gas. so i had to leave so my car wouldnt over heat. i checked the fuses, they are good. i dont know how to test the relay and i swapped the relay for the power door locks(but doesnt mean anything cause my door locks dont work either) is there any way to test the relay? i will try to "jolt" the back of the fan and see what happens in a second but i wanted to post first so i can get help ASAP. i just fixed my surging idle and this started a few days after i fixed it uugghh. also, my main relay is bad, i dont know if this could be my problem or not but just some more info. any help isgreatly appreciated. thanks

first off make sure t-stat opens on time, if it does .. at t-stat housing there is a green plug it is for the fan switch, disconnect plug and jump wires together if fan come on you got a bad switch ..although possible it is very unlikely that both relays would go bad ....another common denom could be the radiator fan control module .. chk all these fuses, undehood, # 34 15 amp and # 21 20 amp. underdash # 4 7.5 amp and # 8 7.5 amp.. try this and let me know

start car and let it warm up...the upper radiator hose shopuld feel hot when car warmed up, the lower hose should also feel hot to the touch , if lower radiator hose feels cool oir just warm, you got a t-stat that is sticking closed and you need to replace it before trying other things.........Now if the t-stat opens fine on the t-stat housing there is a green connector 2 wires in it, unplug it, get a wire and jump those 2 wires together if fans come on you got a bad fan switch ..
ok i just got it from the other thread. ill find some wire and run it fromthe positive side of the batterie and the negative(if needed) and ill post my results in a little bit. thanks

there should be 2 wires a green and a black ,,jump those 2 wires together, car running + warmed up make sure t-stat has opened up ...if fans come on that switch is no good .try and let me know
im outside trying it now. the thermostat on hondas are right beside the intake manifold right? ok i cant figure out which holes goes to the green wire and which goes to the ground? is the green wire on the top or bottom? or woul dit not hurt to run current to the ground? thanks. il post as soon as i get this info and run outside and try.
well since i couldnt get a response to where the green wire was i went outside and tried it myself. well not a good idea. i let it warm up and of course the fans didnt come on. so i put a wire on the positive side of the batterie and then poked it into the top hole of the connector, it sparked and my engine sounded like it was going to die. i quickly jerked it away. my car started back idleing correctly but i didnt notice the fans kick on. the wire got so hot that it started to melt the rubber coating in some places. i tried to put the wire in the bottom hole and nothing happened. now what do i need to do. im about to go outside and see if i blew any fuses.

i went to mess with it some more and this time i let it get a little warmer. i didnt stick a wire in the top hole, i already know thats a bad idea. instead i spliced a fuse in the wire and stuck it to the positive and into the bottom hole, nothing happened. when i stuck the connector back to the sensor though the fan next to the a/c compressor came on. the a/c wasnt on as it has a leak in the line and i never have it on. i unhooked it and the fan stopped and i rehooked it and it came back on. i got inside my car and turned the a/c on and it stayed on. i think this must be a cautionary measure when the engine gets so hot. while that fan was running i smacked the back of the other fan with a screw driver, nothing happened. does this mean my main fans motor is out? thanks
also, i checked and all fuses were good.

no no no you are not suppose to give it power ,, read carefully what i said ,,

first off did you find the right wires?? green and black?? than i said JUMP those 2 wires together in other words let them touch 1 another thus you are bypassing the fan switch .. ... a word of advice anytime you do not understand something fully or are uncomforatable with an explanation do not try anything unless you fully understand it and feel comfortable.....

ok. thats what i thought to do at first, cause thats how i have bypassed relays before. then i thought that was wrong. i will try that way tomorrow and post my results. hopefully doing it wrong didnt **** anything up.
i just finished trying jumping off the fans and as soon as i ran the wire from the ground to the power the A/C compressor fan came on but the main fan stayed off. i then ran a wire from the jumper wire to the negative on the battarie and the main fan still didnt come on. do i need to get a new motor?
