Power seat belt.
Well first off I want to say I have owned my accord now for about a month, and I always check on here to see what all is going on. I decided to register because I am having some trouble with my power seat belt.
Since the day I purchased this car the drivers side seat belt (shoulder strap) will not go back like the passenger one does. Now I know this could be a couple of things. Anything from a blown motor to a broken wire. I am just curious as to how I would check or possibly fix that. And jsut for the record it is a 90 accord lx coupe.
I previously owned an 88 Z24 and this car is more reliable, better on gas, and better handling.
Any help would be appriciated.

If the shoulder belt latch is stuck in the foward position it qualifys as an unsafe saftey belt. Head on down to your local dealer and the should fix it for free, if they give you any lip about it find the service manager and ask him for the phone number to american honda customer service.
First off, welcome to the forum. We've a lot of people with a wealth of knowledge in here more than willing to help, so you should have a good time here.
I'm hoping that hondadude's hopes for dealer action bears fruit, and perhaps Honda will admit it was a poor design to start out with and replace it no charge. If not that, hopefully there's an open recall for automatic seat belt retractors rather than just seat belt buckles!
Hopefully they will offer some recourse dispite the 15 years it's been in service.
In answer to your "fix" question:
I'd suggest gaining access to the area of the actuator motor and check for power to the assembly. If you have no power (battery voltage) but the fuses test good, you've more than likely got a broken wire.

Wow, I had no idea that it would be that simple. Thank you all for the help. I really like the site so far. I just gotta find out how to switch it over to a standard and drop an h22a in it now. And I think I can get all that information here.
