sup i have a 93 hatchie with a gsr exhaust...i got it welded/cut and it doesnt fit right!
no matter how slow or fast im going all i hear is this *bump-bump-bump-bump* and its making me crazy cuz its so annoying
any suggestions on how i can deaden the sound?
what about dynamats? can they stay on even with extreme heat coming from the exhaust?
my clearance is about a 1/4 inch from my gas tank to the exhaust...

edit: no its not angled...theyre all hooked on the hooks

 

Why don't you just pay some muffler shop twenty bucks to have him heat the pipe and bend it out of the way.

 

i tried the guy doesnt wanna do it...says its not gonna work well ...maybe he was amateur or something

 

try a different shop then. you need to cut and weld it so it doesnt do that.

 

they exhaust is already cut and welded from bpipe to axle back...he didnt recommend bending the axle back pipe or else the distortion wouldnt be good for the exhaust flow

 

hmm.. maybe just scrap the whole exh. and just redo the whole thing? Cant be good for all that heat right on the gas tank can it?

 

yeah thats what im worried about =/
but then again i cant really scrap it and get a whole new one...i paid some good money for this exhaust system and even if i get a new one im going to have to cut/weld it again the same way...

well oif the exhasut was cut and welded it sounds like it wasnt done right.

 

no he said he has a eg hatch with an exhaust made for a teg gsr, that is why he had to get it modified. I was thinking maybe sell the exhaust you got now and temporary run open header then when you get the funds get a custom setup... Dunno really

 

i had the same prob. i just got some longer hangers from the local auto store and beat in my gas tank enough to stop if from rubbing. its way ghetto but if you are broke then i keeps your car from spontaniously combusting on the freeway.
