Default How do I get the outside joint joint off (axle disassemble)?

I'm trying to build a hybrid axle for my 3g lude H22 swap. I need to swap the outers from my 3rd gen axle with the 94 accord axle and can't get them apart.

Any ideas on how to get the outer join off?

do you mean the piece with the 3 spuds on it thats pressed onto the spline? Thats gonna be a bitch, I'd try heating the **** out of it and using a press if you have one.

I just swapped the inner joint (spider and bearings and all). That's the piece that was actually messed up. But spent probably almost an hour frustrating myself messing with the outer joint...

Live and learn! At least my axle is totally fixed now...

BTW, the only side that has the "3 spuds" is the inner. Once you unhook the boot, you just pulled the inner joint off the midshaft. Then you remove the c-clip (can be fun) and then pull the spider off (might need a rubber mallett to help encourage it to come off).

What I did was swap that spider, the bearings and the joint itself. The old setup had a bearing that exploded. Now the axle is nice and tight and actually stays in the tranny. Imagine that!

Now to fix my newly acquired leak! I think it's my rack but we'll see as I'm sure my tranny was leaking a bit since the axle wouldn't stay in...
