Default Fuel Kill --> Fuel Pump death ?

I was wondering about the effects a fuel cut off switch has on the life of a fuel pump ?

Anyone care to give any technical advice on what can happen if you forget to turn off the switch ?

The car wont start, thats it. It will crank over like there is no fuel pump on, and hitting it while its running is fine too, the car just dies out. I wouldnt do it too often but many people have fuel pump kills, and its fine.
