Default Recommend me a sub: how's the Infinity Kappa Perfect?

Well I'm looking for a sub for my Grand Cherokee. I'm making a custom enclosure in the side of the rear panel. I only want one sub and it will be powered by an older Rockford 800a2 amp. I still haven't decided if I want a 10" or a 12". Has anyone heard the Kappa Perfects?

Its a nice sub. The Components are awesome, but the sub is lacking in my opinion. Sounds very tight and accurate if that's the sound you are looking for. Good Luck.

Well I'm not looking to shake house windows when I drive by. I just want some good, clean bass but that will hit hard when it needs to. I've never owned 10"s, just a bunch of 12"s. Can someone with 1st hand experience compare and contrast the two?

DO NOT over power this sub. They are notorious for blowing with a hair of extra power. Do not port them, they only like sealed boxes.

So the bass sounds the same, the 12 is just louder? The only reason I'd get a 10" is b/c it takes up less room.

Would my Rockford amp be overkill for the Kappa Perfect?

What other subs would you recommend?

yeah thats a pretty beefy amp. 800x1@4ohms. way too much power. unless you run two kappa perfects 400x2 @ 2ohm dvc and keep the gains down.

I dont think the perfect is the right choice for your amp. Whats your budget for a sub? Are you looking for sound quality or all out spl or somewhere inbetween?

I don't really have a budget set but I don't fell like paying $400 for one sub either. I'm more interested in sound quality but still want it to be able to hit hard if i turn it up.

I'm just running 1 10" Kappa Perferct and I love it. Sounds clean, but packs some bass when you need it. Oh yeah, they're designed to work really well in small boxes too.

The less the better. I haven't made the enclosure yet so I'm not sure. I'm going to mold it into the panel on the left:

(not my pic but you get the idea)

you can prolly get away with 1 cubic ft not including sub displacement. if you go with the RE SE, their tech support will calculate a perfect volume for the amount of power you are using.

Go with JL audio since you want it to be a space saver.

I have a 10" Kappa (not a Perfect) in my Integra and it sounds really good. It's in a box which I would say is about 1 square cubic foot big. I've never really heard a Kappa Perfect in action, but must say that the Kappa is a pretty decent sub. It's clean, but not very loud. (not that it can't be loud)

I've got one powered by a JBL BP600.1 They aren't notorius for blowing, they are notorius for the voice coil seperating from the spider. Don't know if that manufacturing issue was ever addressed but I fixed mine with industrial strength epoxy and I haven't had a problem slamming for almost 3 years. As said before, it is a tight and accurate sub, I love it, although if I were to do it over again I'd probably go for the 12".
