Lately, the engine does not roll even when the car is started...
the shaking lasts a few seconds and then it smoothes itself out.
Check Engine light came up but a computer diagnostic did nto bring anything up..

I suspect is the automatic 'choke'or the distributor....
any idea?

If what you discribe as an uneven "roll", is a rythmic miss, or vibration; it could be either a bad ignition wire, a dirty injector or an injector leaking down.
The wires can be field tested using a spritz bottle of water. Spray the ignition wires with water while the rngine runs; if any are pourous the engine will start running rough.
Running a good quality Fuel Injector Cleaner (BG products) thru the tank may help with the injector problem (and certainly will not hurt)
