Default what thickness head gasket for a LsVTEC 11:1?

I have a stock b18b block with a GSR head and CTR cams. I currently have a LS head gasket, but am considering bumping the compression just a smidgen with a thinner head gasket. What thickness and where can I get them?

thanks so much!

You're only running about 9.8:1 comp right now, so in order to get up to the desired 11:1 you want, you'd have to use a single layer head gasket which you can buy from Cometic I believe (just do a search). That would get you close to 10.2:1, then you'd have to remove .040 thou of material in total from the block/head (deck the block .020 thou and plane the head the same amount) I wouldn't remove more than .030 off of the head just as a rule of thumb for durability etc. Doing this will give you the 11:1 you're looking for. It's those stock LS pistons that are killing you comp wise. Changing them to something like the P73-A0 (USDM type R) pistons and running the stock headgasket will give you about 11.1:1.

wow, thx for the info man. I was under the impression my setup was closer in the range of 10.5 or 10.8:1.
