I installed a KOSS Cd player into my EX a while ago and the damn thing is dim as hell, so dim I can barely see it at night. I cannot find a manual for the thing online and everything is wired correctly.

Does anyone have any suggestions or seen this before? The dim switch is all the way up and I have searched and searched for the settings on the SOB (at night) with no luck. HELP PLEASE.

but serisouly...take ur money and pain elsewhere and go buy a Pioneer or Kenwood that is worth the money u spend on it

that things like $100 new.. what do you expect? anyway my suggestion is to buy a maplight that you can plug in the cigg lighter and shine/light upt he head unit, or get a new head unit..

 

The damn thing was in the car when I bought it........Don't feel like wasting my money if there is another way to fix it.

 

there must be...no reason for a headunit to be sold as a 'dim' unit...and i personally have not seen a head unit's backlight 'dim' over time....

see if theres a menu system (similar to the one you use to control bass/treble/fade) on the radio...this menu may have settings like, loud, stations US, stations EU, COLOR or Illumination (this is the one you want to change) ....

I don't know how your deck works, or how it looks, or even if this menu exists for your model (on my alpine, kenwood and clarion, all three have something like this) so hopefully it'll help.

it may be hooked up wrong have you attempted to take it out of the car and look how they wired it. It may be that they wired it to illumination and not to the lighting wire or maybe the other way around.
