Gents,

I recently purchased an '88 CRX a few months ago. Everything was running fine until my car would not start this Saturday. I tested the battery and alternator, and everything was fine. I happened to look under the dash and I noticed an alarm brain with an LED on. I was never told the car had any alarm. After further search I found a small siren in the engine bay. I believe that some how the alarm activiated and the the ignition or starter kill was activiated. I tried disconnecting the battery and reconnecting in hopes the alarm would reset but that didn't work. I haven't touched the wiring yet. I wanted some advice on what to rewire etc. I have very little knowledge of alarm systems. I just need my car to start. Nothing was done to the car before all this happened. The battery is new. Any help? Thanks.

Unplugging the alarm does not work. I think I may have to remove the inline relay and reconnect the starter wires.

 

Could be a bad relay, too... You could replace the relay, or, as you said, just reconnect the starter wires.
