possible to mig on a dsm side mount intercooler
I don't know **** about welding so I was hoping some of you experienced guys can help me out. I'm putting together a turbo kit for my integra and I wanted to use a dsm side mount intercooler seeing as how easy they are to come by.
The thing is, the outlets aren't facing the correct way to be used as a front mount on my teg. But I was thinking, I would easily be able to fix that if it was possible to mig on the intercooler. I think it's made out of aluminum.
Here's a pic of the IC I'm talking about

they make alum migs, but if u dont have one than u cant just use a norm mig, there alot diff, norm people tig weld alum because its easyer, nicer looking and holds better, better penatration, just go to a machine or welding shop and get them to weld up pipes coming off where u want, and patch the old spots, or just get a fmic and spend a little more money

you absolutely can use a normal mig for aluminum. it is recommended that you use a spool gun or a push-pull type setup though, it is possible to use a push type setup, just be very careful that you don't have any kinks or loops in your whip. you will also need to use 100% argon or an argon/helium mixture instead of argon/co2 mig mix.
be sure to clean the area to be welded very well using alcohol and preheat it as well and you should have a pretty decent looking weld.

Wrong, and you can get some nice welds out of a spool gun
