Default Jdm B16 with p61

I just found out today that my Jdm B16 has a P61(92-93 GS-R ECU, rare so I'm told) and not the ECU that it should be (either a P30 or PR3...). Is this hurting it in any way, is it better? I'd imagine whatever ECU is for the Jdm B16 would be best. My cross over is at 5700rpm's right now and it seems a little too high... Any help would be great thanks.

I'm told it is OBDI, and I searched P61 and got 92-93 GS-R ECU's all day long...

hmm then i suppose theres no reason to get rid of it... i dont know how different the maps are and all but i know that vtec cross over is a bit higher and the speed limiter or whatever is much higher as well.

I wouldn't worry about using the p61 ecu for your b16 application, I don't know the maps very well but I can tell you this, the IM/TB from the 92-93 GSR is basically the same as the pr3, no dual stage butterflies, other than that.. the engine should run fine with it but if you want to retain the stock maps, grab yourself a p28 and let somebody burn you the p30 bin for your motor.

also the vtec engagment on the p30 is roughly 5700 also, since b16's are known for their top end power, 5700 is just about right, 8200 redline.

might as well just use the p61... if u get the jdm p30.. vtec at 5700.. rev at 8200 speed governer from 120-130.. i dont know why its different but it is...

just use urs.. it should be fine.. if you want more power.. u can use a p28 out of a 92-95 ex/si hatch and have it tuned that would help

Yes that is from a 93 GSR. that ecu will be fine on your motor. No major differences cept for Vtec engagement. the ignition maps are almost identical to the ITR maps which will not hurt your motor. just be sure your timing is dead on at 16 degree's
