intermittant code 16 on 91 SI ECU?
i just went to gas up and afterwards my car wouldnt start. i immediately got a code 16(FI circuit). i called a guy who has the book on codes, while he was checking, the car started right back up and i drove to work, the car ran just fine. so the guy im talkin to is explaining that if i consistantly draw a code 16, then something is wrong with the FI circuit. but if its intermittant, then it could be a bad ECU. please give me your opinions or past experiences with this code. i have done the mpfi swap and my car ALWAYS runs fine. the only other problem ive had in the past since the mpfi swap is a code 1(O2 sensor) which im told is no big deal because im running 1.6 fuel mixture in a 1.5 motor.
have you changed the fuel filter?take out injectors on check for some crap in the filter screen.i had a inject problem also.i went to the salvage yard and bought about five and changed them out.does it idle kind of rough?if it does pull each plug wire while its running each cylinder should bog down the same, the one that dont make that much of a difference when you pull the plug wire is the crappy inj.hope this helps.OH I TRIED CHANGING THE ECU AND IT WAS THE SAME

I have had the same problem for about a year. Run the car, stop for 5 minutes, no start, wait 5 minutes, starts right up. Turns out I blew my Main Relay last saturday. No more start for now! I just get no second click from the relay and my fuel pump doesnt prime. And a constant engine light but no code. Joy!!
I never got a code 16 though...always 43.

To trip the code, the ECU has detected a fault in the electrical circuit of the injection system. In other words, the ECU doesn't know or care if fuel is getting to the injectors or if they are clogged or whatever.
The electrical path is basically from the ignition switch to the main relay, relay to the injector resistors if your car has them, then to the injectors, and then the ECU completes the ground. Check your wiring and connections. Most likely, check the main relay for hairline cracks in the solder joints. It's unlikely, but you could have an injector with an intermittent coil.

thx for the replies guys. i did a search on HT and found a couple of threads of code 16. ill check my main relay, resistor box, injectors, etc. i personally did all the wiring when i converted to mpfi and i soldered and heatshrunk ALL the connections, so i know its not the wiring.
