Survey Says... need opinions or someone to talk me out of this...
First I would like to mention that this car is auto-x only driven about one night a week and beat to hell once a month auto-crossing.
As I was driving home my dam pulley fell off...
The engine was running fine and since I was in a bad spot on the hwy I decided to drive home (3-miles). Now im in a spot where I need to get the car to a friends shop and I cannot decide if I should drive the 4.4 miles or pay to have it towed.
1. Don't be an idiot, have it towed...
2. Drives fine, its only 4 miles do not waste $70 bucks
3. Put it on myself, torque it down as much as possible and then drive to the shop.
Never Mind, I have decided to go with #3,
Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what damage can be caused by running without, not permanently but on a short drive like my 3-mile drive home?

4.4 miles should be covered under AAA basic membership. find osmeone with AAA, they can have it towed for you.

if you refuse to tow it.... then just put the pulley back on and drive. im surprised you didnt already mess things up by driving without the pulley for 3 miles, if i understand you right. i would expect the timing belt pulley to have dropped off inside the belt cover.

Its not that I refuse to tow it, i would if that was my only option but I do not see what could go wrong if I put it back on and tourqe it down as much as I can untill I get to the shop.

What would driving without a pulley affect? Is the pulley bolt the only thing holding the timing belt gear on?

I think everything is still ok, engine was fine when I got home, everything sounded the same. I'm lucky the timing belt gear did not come off...
yeah that would have sucked. But your battery was strong enough to make it 3 miles?
Only damage that would have occured is if the belt slipped or came off. But since you are driving it with no affects don't worry about it.
