exhaust header repair
I just bought a 95 civic ex and knew it was not running right. I noticed this weekend that one of the two header pipes has a major dent in it. If you were to cut the pipe and look at the cross section of the pipe at the dent, it will look like a semicircle rather than a full circle, with a somewhat concave flat side.
How successful a repair can be made to a header with this kind of a dent? thanks

It can be repaired fine. A couple methods, depending on the shape are.
1. Drill small hole and use slide hammer.
2. Drill hole on opposite side and use small punch to push out the dent.
3. Drill small hole to start a saber saw blade. Cut out dented portion, hammer form back to proper curve and weld back in.
I'm sure someone else will have a superior solution, but I'd try one of the above.

It's the 2-1 header right before the cat that I can't imagine would be cast. Also, I heard yesterday to try to avoid having someone punch holes for the repair. Is there some way to do a repair like this w/o creating holes?
thanks
