whuttup yall! so im looking for an upgrade to my throttle body since i got my skunk2 pro series manifold and i wanted to know what would you guys get? i heard skunk2 is good but i have also heard problems coming out of them.Also, what is a good size. is 70mm too much? setup: pro series intake manifold, dc jdm headers, intake, exhaust, soon....cams and gears!

 

the str throttle body is very nice and the price is alright for the quality of the product

 

IDK is there a such thing as a throttle body thats too big?hahaha

70mm is overkill even with cams....go something smaller, like 62ish or so..

 

More air doesn't always mean more power, that air has to be able to be used otherwise it's a waste.

 

Just send your oem throttlebody to http://www.maxbore.com, and buy cams, or valvetrain components with the money you saved. That is unless you just want a bling *** throttlebody, which isn't a bad thing, it just wasn't too important to me.

Yeah it will be safe...but from I have read, you will probably lose power. lol

 

ou need to take in account tuning. You can get all the air you want into the engine but without propper fuel maps and ignition to controll the burn you wont see any power gains. Are you using hondata? or like ecu

 

no right now i have a stock ecu...after i get my clutch i will look for an ECU. i dunno what type of ecu to get either what do you suggest?

 

You can't go wrong with a nice OEM tb cough*type r*cough

 

you know i was looking into gettin a CTR or ITR throttle body. what do you think about these compares to skunk2 and the rest?

Don't go too big. On an old Ford engine, they tried to get more power out of it, and with a big *** TB, the car would stall at idle.

Then they switched back to smaller ones.

Spoon does not make a 70mm throttle body. All their throttle bodies are OEM type R cores that have been " tapered" to 70mm at the opening. They still have the stock 62mm butterfly.
if you have a Skunk 2 manifold, it has a 64mm opening. So boring your GSR or Civic Si or any stock 60mm throttle body to 64mm would make it match the Skunk 2 manifold just fine.

i dunno i think skunk2 will be just fine..especially the Pro series

 

I have recently upgrade to a Skunk2 TB(68mm) and Skunk2 IM.

I was having idle issues when I first installed them (high idle)...but the prob has now been fixed. The car was throwing a CEL (IACV)...to make a long story short, it turned out it was the tps. The tps adjustment was maxed out but still was not at .50 fully closed...so I had to dremel some of the tps in order to get more adjustment to get it to .50. Seems to be fine now.

But anyway, now that my car is idling normal, I've been happy with the TB and IM so far. I say go with the skunk2.
As for gains, I'll find out soon when I take the car to the next street legal drags.

 

what about Toda or Spoon?

 

I run stock ITR with JUN 3 cams and Toda header my car makes 205 to the wheels with JUN ecu. I am switching to Hondata shortly If I see huge gains I will post them

 

Spend the money elsewhere. Cams and tuning will gain you way more power than an upgraded TB ever could and - quite honestly - if you're trying to milk power out of your B16 by adding NA upgrades then you probably don't know what you're doing in the first place.
