Ok, here is the problem. my 180,000km CR-X is rusting all over the place. well, basically the left panel right above the rear tire, and also the left panel right in front of the front tires. the panel in front fo the left tires has a 5cm hole now due to rust. Should i expect the whole car to be rusted up?? now would this lower the durability of the car? i was planning on spot welding the frame (is it also called rivets?) to create more durability, but should i take care of the rust first??
im also planning on re-painting the car into gunmetal, or metallic black. i would have to take care of the rust first to paint right?
anyway, need help, thanx.

 

Rust problems are a pain. Once you get them, it seems you can never get rid of them. IMO, I would sell the car, and look for a rust free one.

 

You can buy just wheel wells or fender lips or whatever you want to call them, and have them welded in. I think you can also buy a complete rear quarter, but they're in the $500-$600 range, and then you have to put it on. That's no easy feat. Also you could find a nice wrecked CRX and cut the quaters out of it (just the part you need.

I think the CRX has a separate rocker and lower quarter, so you would possibly need both.

Don't just have someone patch it and bondo it. That will only last about a year most of the time. Your best bet is buying fenderlips. They're usually carried by people who make all of the aftermarket fenders and stuff like that.

 

icic, yeah, the problem is i cant find any cr-x's around in windsor, since its a Ford, GM place here. hehehe. yeah, i guess ill jsut have to buy the panels separately.
