If you bought it back from the insurance company I would either part it out or sell it to a salvage yard.

Call your local salvage yards and see what you can get for it whole. Sometimes it's worth it to cut it down and part it out but for a lot of people, the labor isn't worth the increased income.

Is it ever not a good idea to buy it from the insurance and then sell it to a salvage yard? Has anyone ever lost money doing that?

thanks for your replies...my insurance didn't cover b/c i didn't have collision on it, so its pretty much still mine...How much do you think a salvage yard would pay for it? a few hundred?

I don't know how much salvage yards give you but it's probably not too much. If you do end up going that route, could you let me know how much they gave you for it?

If it's in good condition (especially the interior) and you don't need the money too quickly, it's definitely worth it to part at least some of it out yourself. If the interior is good, you can usually sell it piecemeal on eBay to people who are replacing individual parts. Depending on the damage to the front, you can pull some of the bigger and easier parts off the engine. There's a fair amount of stuff you can get off without much work. Then you can sell the rest of the car to a salvage yard.
