1997 Civic gas tank.
I actually, did do a bit of searching, and coulnt find out how many gallons a 1997 civic holds.
IM guessing around 10 gallons, which would give you arounf 380 hwy miles. But I could be wrong.
Can anyone be a pal and help a bit?

Thats the thing, I donthave an owners manual.
And I'am soon to be the proud owner of a 97 civak!.
But my padre wants me to price everything out, down to gas.
Also, dop you guys know what parts usually break on hondas. I will be keeping it stock, except for an exhaust, and maybe a short shifter.

Ive seen where it holds 11.9 but mine only gets 11. The gas light comes on at about 10 gal. so i doubt there's an extra 2 gal. in there.

overfill probably.

Most cars...I have owned a few nissans a couple toyotas a honda and a few various others....anyway most cars have a couple gallons extra in the tank even when the gas gauge is below empty just to keep you from running out of gas. Also You can't run your car till the tank is actually empty. The fuel pickup is not on the bottom of the tank it is just above the bottom. Soooo if you have less than 1/2 to 1/4 of a gallon of gas left in the tank your fuel pump would be sucking air and your car would stop running. So yea even if your "stated" gas tank capacity is 11.9 gallons your not going to get that much into the tank at the gas station unless you keep filling it till gas is splashing out.

Then I'd start saving for a transmission right now.

please dont start the short shifter debate on here, PM me and ILL tell you all you need to know.
The fuel pump will not draw exactly 11.9 gallons out im sure. On our car, the fuel pump is sort of lubricated by the gasoline itself, so dont drive till the light comes on all the time. driving the car till it stalls cause of no fuel is not good for the fuel pump, and can put wear on parts of it. So don't drive that low anyway, I gas up at about 1/4 of a tank most of the time and have no problem with going about 300 miles a tank.
