Default Vertical Flow FMIC

I have recently read about the advantages of a vertical flow intercooler and am a bit confused. After doing some research here and elsewhere, everybody seems to agree that they are theoretically more efficient than horizontal flow type of core, but why are there so few people using (or claiming to) use them on their Hondas? Does anybody know of any tests that have been performed comparing vertical and horizontal flow ICs (similar size cores)? I understand that the pressure drop might not be such of a big deal, but it is still interesting for me to see.

I have looked around, but I can't find anyone selling such intercoolers for Hondas. I know Spearco makes them for custom orders, but their website is currently down. Does anybody know anybody on honda-tech (sponsor or not) that sells such IC cores and their approximate price? How much does it usually cost to weld a set of end tanks on an intercooler?

In my case, the core needs to support enough airflow for up to 600whp.
